November 4th, 2014 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 5:00 PM

Introduction of Attendees, attendance sheet passed around

Minutes from October approved

Treasurer’s Report:

-Financial report distributed and discussed

-Box Tops earned Bell $338.81, check to arrive in December

-Lil’ Ricci’s earned Bell $245.00

-Membership close to 100 members, 2 business members, will pay out $626.oo for Colorado PTA dues.

-$10.00 for Charitable Foundation Renewal

-$18000.00 total was provided by PTA to fund Bell Middle School grants

-Grant Committee:

– Requests completed. Majority of requests granted, except several “Chrome Books”

-Bridget to standardize procedures related to sharing of technology between teachers and classrooms

-Additional $600.00 remains, PTA to determine where it should be distributed

-Counseling Department received funds to purchase a suicide prevention program

-Amy J. to educate staff on items PTA can provide at Staff Development meeting in August of next year

-Bridget to provide script that can be used each year for Staff Development meeting, should be put on May agenda

-Magazine Fundraiser:

-Volunteers for next year as follows:  Barb Goldman, Suzanne Ninke, Lynae Douthit

-Magazines can be purchased at any time during the year, link on the Bell Middle School website


-Old Business:

-Hearing/Vision screening November 12th 7:45-10:30 AM, need additional volunteer, Gina Robie volunteered to help

-Additional tooth boxes donated to Bell

-New Business:

-Colorado Gives Day: Cheryl has website up, Julie B. volunteered to attend meeting at the Astor House

-Barnes and Noble Night: posters are up, November 13th, 2:30-9:00 PM, will be in weekly blast and newsletter, flyers to go out to teachers, musical theatre will perform from 6:00 to 6:30, donations received from Qdoba for gift cards and raffle, will continue to work on getting additional gift cards, still need teacher requests-Bridget already sent out email, Mr. Haberkorn to speak at teacher meeting regarding teacher reading slots, will promote teacher’s reading on overhead speaker, Pei Wei fundraiser-need flyer for Bell to received funds, Wendy’s fundraiser for 5th and 6th grader trip, volunteer  “Sign Up Genius” link in the newsletter.

-Golden Schools Foundation: Pam requesting information for Golden Schools Foundation Newsletter and will supply Bridget with deadline information in the future. Ideas to add to the newsletter could include information regarding new playground equipment and the magazine fundraiser.

-Kathy to email fundraising ideas for Bell Middle School

-Amy to attend the Golden Senior High PTA meetings and act as liaison between the Bell and Golden, Golden Senior High meetings on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM.

-Gina Robie inquired how eight grade parents find out about multiple High Schools in the Jefferson County area and how to find out about information sessions. Bridget answered that this information is on the Jefferson County Schools website including information nights.   The possibility of adding a link to the Bell Middle School page discussed.
